Dr. Annette Fornos

Dr. Annette Fornos

Dr. Annette Fornos is a board-certified Internist and Functional Medicine physician. Born in Havana, Cuba, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

Dr. Fornos served as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and as faculty at the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine at Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is affiliated with the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Miami, where she has practiced as a Functional and Integrative Medicine physician.

She holds board certifications in Functional Medicine from both the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), and she is a Fellow in Anti-Aging and Metabolic Medicine through A4M. In addition, Dr. Fornos holds certifications in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, IV and chelation therapy, peptide therapy, weight loss, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) under Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, through George Washington University and A4M.Her primary passion lies in exploring the dynamic interplay among the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. She also has a keen interest in longevity, epigenetics, lifestyle medicine, and the impact of psychology and spirituality on overall well-being. Dr. Fornos is committed to education and outreach, having contributed to medical grand rounds, podcasts, and community-focused health publications.

Complementing her medical practice, Dr. Fornos is also a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, trained through the Kundalini Research Institute. She has taught meditation and Kundalini Yoga at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and integrates these practices into her holistic, individualized approach to root-cause medicine.

The name of her practice, Amrit Health, is inspired by her spiritual name, Kirti Amrita Kaur, meaning “spiritual service” and “divine nectar.”

Dr. Fornos deeply believes in the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit—and in the body’s innate ability to heal when supported by the right internal and external environments. She is especially passionate about mitochondrial health, detoxification, longevity, and the transformative power of thought in achieving well-being.
